Museo Nacional de Antropología gives you a view of all sorts of artifacts from the nation’s pre-Columbian era. Over 20 different exhibits offer guests a glimpse into the country’s past with things like a diorama of the city when the Spanish arrived and an Aztec calendar stone.
Museo Frida Kahlo; Frida Kahlo lived in this bright blue house from her birth on July 7, 1910 until 1954. Today the house is a museum celebrating her life and work.
Alameda Central the city’s oldest park that’s dotted with trees; History reveals that the grounds were once an Aztec marketplace and also a gruesome execution site during the Spanish Inquisition.
Cathedral Metropolitana from the 16th century is reported to be the oldest building in Latin America. It’s also known for being the final resting place of General José de San Martin, famous liberator of Argentina.
Museo de Arte Moderno houses works by many contemporary masters, including Frida Kahlo, Rivera, Siqueiros and others.
Museo Nacional de Arte housed in a palatial building that dates back to 1911, and the collection encompasses a vast array of artwork, from ancient days to modern. Sculpture, ceramics, paintings and drawings comprise the exhibitions.
Palacio de Bellas Artes offers visitors the finest in opera and musical concerts as well as dramatic productions. The theatre boasts a breathtaking stained glass curtain that is ceremoniously lifted before each performance.
Plaza de las Tres Culturas gives visitors a chance to view three different cultures located in one spot. Aztec, Spanish and contemporary Mexican architecture meet here.
Templo Mayor the remains of this ancient temple were discovered in 1978. This amazing archaeological discovery was first built in 1375, and archeologists have unearthed seven additional layers, one on top of the other.
Zócalo is the main square in the Centro Histórico district. It’s full of historic sites and ancient architecture. The area is always alive with people and it’s the center for parades, ceremonies and celebrations on holidays and other special events.
