The Aztecs
The Aztec people were ethnic groups consisting of tribes, that shared a common language called Nahuati. These groups inhabited in the central part of today’s Mexico. They also dominated big parts of Mesoamerica between the 14th and the 16th centuries.
Unfortunately this great civilization was destroyed soon after the Spanish conquistadors arrived and the colonization began. The Triple Alliance between the city-states of Texcoco, Tlacopan and Tenochtitlan that was formed under the native leader Moctezuma or Montezuma got eventually defeated by the superiority of the Spanish firearms and technology.

For a certain temple, that was discovered and excavated during the 20th century, named ‘the Great Pyramid of Tenochtitlan’ in 1487 the Aztecs themselves and Ahuitzotl-the Great Speaker recorded that they have sacrificed 84,400 prisoners in a 4 days ritual for the reconsecration of the temple.
